The Lympia barracks, a former prison and the oldest building in the Port of Nice, is hosting, in its 250m² gallery, the “La Vallée avalée” exhibition by Marc Pollini, from 2 October 2021 to 2 January 2022. A story in pictures, immortalising the impact of storm Alex, brings us face to face with this Mediterranean disaster.
A series of shots taken in the heart of the Vésubie Valley
The Lympia barracks, a former prison and the oldest building in the Port of Nice, is hosting, in its 250m² gallery, the “La Vallée avalée” exhibition by Marc Pollini, from 2 October 2021 to 2 January 2022. Through a series of shots taken in the heart of the Vésubie Valley, with humility and benevolence, the photographer presents this extraordinary Mediterranean disaster that took place almost a year ago.
On 2 October 2020, storm Alex hit the area with full force. In the midst of a COVID-19 lockdown, Marc Pollini decides three weeks after the disaster to go to Vésubie, an area he knows well from hiking and cycling. Over a period of ten months, with around thirty visits, he set about recording the circumstances of the villages still in shock, photographing the remains of the storm and meeting the people who live there, whose courage and solidarity during this ordeal deserved to be recorded.
This exhibition is presented in a diary format in which the author expresses, in the first person, his feelings, his questions, his thoughts, etc. Not to be missed!
